Was shipped in an envelope with the normal starrett box. I think that the price is fair for what it is. From time to time you will need to check and adjust the center head. You can check how accurate the center head is by getting a machined disc and putting the center head on the disc like you normally would. Then you make a mark where the ruler is and then rotate the center head 180 degrees. If both lines match, the center head is accurate, if not it will need to be adjusted.
