I bought this hoop for my Babylock Unity and Ellisimo. They use a Babylock EF74 hoop or an brother compatible SA 438. Meridian seems to be that same hoop attachment. All plastic with no metal parts that fit into anything. Hope that helps. **Q: Any chance this will fit an Innovis NQ1700e? I can't find one that will!** A: Sorry I have no idea. I love this hoop. The magnets are VERY strong! All you do is lay a piece of stabilizer over the hoop and then place the magnets on the four corners. You could also lay your fabric across and place the magnets over your fabric and it would hold your fabric in place. I was making in the hoop gift card holders so I did not need to hoop fabric. The frame is very sturdy. No need to worry about it being flimsy. It is solid and strong. I have a Baby Lock Spirit and even though my machine was not listed it fits on my Spirit and the machine recognizes it. Hooping is my least favorite part. So this makes it a lot quicker. There are more expensive magnetic frames. I have not seen them to do a side by side comparison but I don’t think they could be any better quality. You can get the 4x4 and the 5x7 for less than the other expensive hoops. 4x4 works great with just 4 magnets. The 5x7 I would probably want to use 6 on. If you purchase both frames you will have 8 magnets because 4 comes with each hoop. So you would have extra magnets for the 5x7 frame. It certainly is an improvement over the plastic ones. Hooping is definitely a lot easier, and you don't get the "hoop burn" (or hoop imprint) you get with the plastic ones on your fabric. Also, no more turning that little screw knob which is also a plus with these magnetic hoops. The downside is this hoop comes with only 4 magnets which in my opinion is not enough to hold the fabric in place especially if you are doing embroidery work with a lot of stitches. Nothing is more frustrating than when the fabric shifts and you have to start all over again. You will need to buy another 4 magnets to hold the fabric in place. Also, you need to make sure you do not put your magnets at or near the "3 o'clock position" of the frame because if you are doing embroidery work that extends all the way to the edge (on the right side) of the frame, there is a good chance the needle clamp screw (the screw you turn to change needles) will slam into a magnet (an could potentially damage your machine). It is because the magnet's height is slightly higher than the needle clamp screw. Not sure if this is the case with all embroidery machines, but at least the embroidery machine I use (Brother NQ1700e) there isn't enough clearance. I have since switched to another magnetic embroidery frame (Snap Hoop Monster from Dime) which I think is much better than this one. You don't have to deal with all those little magnets as the entire frame is a magnet (and has a much stronger holding power so the fabric doesn't shift). The downside is the Snap Hoop Monster is much more expensive (around $150 and up depending on size).
