LITTLE BITTY LIES is funny, it's clever, it's unexpected and, ultimately, it even is plausible. Ms. Andrews hooks her readers right from the get-go, and takes them along for a romp that includes a rotten husband who abandons his family...the possible death of that same husband...affairs, adultery, divorces, senility and oh, yes, eyebrow waxing. She sustains this pace, keeping the fun level up, while actually painting a very black and diabolical picture. And everything in the plot works out for the best, including a recipe for a fabulous chicken salad that is sure to become a standard at my house. Review: Little Bitty Lies is a lot of fun - Little Bitty Lies is a lot of fun. Mary Bliss McGowan and Katherine Weidman are good looking, clever, upper middle-class residents of Fair Oaks, Georgia, and used to having a very nice time of it. Their suburban country club lives are turned upside down and inside out when Mary Bliss' husband does a runner and Katherine's spouse has an affair. The gal-pals team up and tackle problems with what is often wickedly funny southern charm. Their men, families, and neighbors, are far from perfect. Yay! I felt like an invisible third friend, in on their plans, and enjoying the nonsense. This is great fluff, very well done. and, okay, it's a tad dated, with landlines and VCRs, but that didn't really detract. Needless to say, but just saying, the premise of how the errant spouses are dealt with requires suspension of belief. There is a nice sex scene--nothing you haven't done. I loved the huggable men, local color, southern gardens, chicken salad, crabbity mother-in-law, kids with attitudes, cocktails and wine. This is one of those books that can be read again and again, just a perfect example of the "Southern woman revenge" books, probably the all-time best, although Dorothea Benton Frank's new "The Last Original Wife" is up there too. This has a mystery in it for good measure and makes any woman who has ever been wronged start looking for her grandmama's number eight Griswold frying pan.
