But when we unwrapped it, it really, *really* stank of a chemical odor and had a greasy texture. Just unfolding it and carrying it down to our washing machine gave me an itchy rash on my hands.Washing it once removed most (but not all) of the chemical smell, but even though I washed it in cold and dried it on low, the coverlet has apparently significantly shrunk. The description says the king should be 96"x104". After washing it, it has shrunk to 90"x104". I hope it doesn't shrink anymore!Aside from the stink, the rash, and the shrinking, I like the design and the ivory color. ### ⭐ Disappointment *by C***3 on June 20, 2017* When I received this item, I felt that it looked like what I expected. I immediately washed and dried the bedspread according to the instructions. It was very disappointing to see the product after I washed it. First of all, the creases in the material from being folded and in a package did not come out. And, even worse, the scalloped edges all around the bedspread frayed, so you saw areas of white on the blue edging. I felt this was unacceptable for a brand new item, so I returned it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Pleased! except........ *by N***Y on August 15, 2012* Since I have a queen sized mattress with a giant pillowtop mattress I need a king size coverlet to fall long enough to cover the mattress and springs. And I wanted a good quality matelasse to replace the one that I had. This coverlet is made in Portugal, not China and is quality construction. The pattern is subtle and pleasing and the ivory is a true ivory and not too yellow. I was concerned that the price being so low for this product would indicate skimpy fabric or uneven stitches. Not so! This is as pretty as the Peacock Alley coverlet that I had that was 3 times the price. Highly recommended and I'm very glad to have found this on Amazon.Addendum: I washed the coverlet and dried it in the dryer on medium. It SHRUNK. So beware. It is now about the size of a regular queen size coverlet. I just can't put anything on my bed that hasn't been washed.
