Arm moves up, down, left and right without any issue holding the weight. **Q: From a bird's eye view can the arm/monitor be rotated 360 degrees (around the Z axis)? Or does it just rotate 360 around portrait/landscape axis?** A: The arm can rotate 360 degrees around the base (barring any restrictions from the cables). The monitor can only rotate about 180 degrees around the mounting point on the arm. Or would adding some plank to the clamp be an alternative?** A: I tried it with the glass standing desk from Costco and it works fine, I put a book (or a piece of wood, or something) between the clamp and the desk to distribute the stress better and I feel comfortable with it. I tried it directly on the glass and it didn't crack, but it was making me nervous. It came with the fittings for both a grommet or an edge clamp. I went with the grommet. Installation was quick and easy with two gotchas - both not the fault of the item. The grommet diameter on my table was too large. I had to conjure up a wooden strip And drill a hole through it to fit correctly. Secondly, the instructions are just too tiny for my eyes so it took a bit of squinting to figure them out. Once installed, I had to tighten up the tension to hold my monitor down - as it kept spring back up to its maximum height. But that was documented in the instructions clearly. So, the mount is installed and the desk is free of clutter, and the monitor suspended mid air is quite stable. Good buy.
