I even cut one down to a 1/4oz. There is, what appears (especially while cutting/shaving) to be, high quality metal inside a very hard durable plastic covering which contains the threads. Be careful not to cross-thread these weights (it'll likely ruin the weight without damaging your cue though), and be sure to use a large screw driver to avoid stripping the heads....
