My previous "foot scrubber" broke and I'm now pleased that it did as this works so much better. Both surfaces are excellent. The rougher one being the best for my heels and the finer one for the slightly less tough areas. The small file tucked into the handle works great around the toes which have always been really difficult to deal with but I can now manage with ease. Having only used this for a few days I can't comment on how long it will last but it looks and feels robust. It is also very easy to grip which is important in the bath or shower. The design seems to have been well thought about rather than being a basic "grater" and is a lot nicer than pumice which I have always hated the feel of.
