I opted for the large because I felt I was between sizes and I hate things too tight. The large worked really well for me. (I normally wear a size 10.) I liked them so much I ordered two more. They are very comfortable and as a petite person, I like the elastic fit at the ankles. Otherwise, they would probably be too long. They are well made. There is no looseness at all in ... *by A***. on Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2017* I'm 5'2" and 115 lbs with a 25" waist, 35" hips, and 21" thighs, and according to the size chart would be an XS; however, there was no XS available so I ordered a small. It was lucky that I did, because the small fit quite snugly on me -- especially in the thigh area -- and unlike what I was expecting, the fabric isn't all that stretchy. A medium (two sizes above what I'd normally wear) probably would have been a better fit. There is no looseness at all in the fit as suggested by the photos; they hug my leg from hip to ankle like leggings. The waist also appears to be mid-rise in the photos, but on me it's definitely high rise, coming up an inch or two above my navel. They have nice decently roomy pockets. I bought these to wear over the top of my yoga pants, leggings, and running tights in cold weather for some extra warmth, and they do a good job of this.
