As it states in the product description it is a Stage Weapon--i.e. used for Actors already trained in Stage Combat or historical reenactors. You need to start with a Regulation Fencing Foil or an Epee. Saber Fencing comes much later. Go to the USFA {United States Fencing Association } website for info on competitive Fencing as a sport or the Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) websites. Classical Fencing is a good foundation to have before you get into all the HEMA activity. You Tube has some great demonstrations from U.K. Masters of this sport--there is HEMA clubs in the U.S. but nowhere near the sophistication of the Europeans.
