With great concerns for his safety and a few panic situations, I finally resorted to the tether. His only punishment is "time out" as he hasn't quite grasped the concept of losing toys. So because time out isn't always an option when we are out and about, we use this as the time out. He must stay on the tether with me for 2 mins of he bolts or doesn't stay close when I call him. Picking him up and carrying wasn't working for either of us as he is very large for his age and was hurting me when flailing about once in my arms. I was also afraid I would drop him or fall myself. So the good news is that he hates the tether. I am able to give him a warning and he generally listens. It took about 2 weeks for him to understand that I meant business with the tether. I can usually encourage him to cooperate just by showing him that I have it and will use if necessary. It's easy to carry on my bag and get on him quickly when necessary. I would probably get the backpack style of it were for use in a crowd situation but this works for the occasional standing in line at the post office or going to the park for a picnic.So the cons, he can loosen it and pull his hand out of the strap. I also worry that he will cut his skin/ hurt his wrist when pulling away or having his moment of revolt. I wish it was padded or a softer material, and maybe some sort of snap to prevent it from tightening/loosening so easily.Overall, I was glad to find this style and hope that we won't have to use it much longer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for theme parks *by C***M on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on September 21, 2012* I bought this wrist band/tether for my 7 year old for use at Disney World. Even though that may seem too old to use something like this, he does like to run off ahead on his own when he sees something that interests him and I didn't want to end up getting separated from him by the crowds. I liked this product because it was something that was not a stuffed animal backpack that was much too young for him at this age. What I liked most whas that the length allowed him to mostly just walk next to me and I didn't have to have a sweaty death grip on his hand the entire time. The only issue I had with this product is that it tightens up horribly if the child pulls away from you - in a way this is a good deterrent from pulling away from you but on the other hand I was constantly loosening it because I didn't want it to hurt his wrist from being too tight. I wished that it had an actual velcro bracelet at the child's end. Many times I looped it through his belt loop which was covered by his shirt instead of his wrist which worked very well for us. When I didn't need it (restaurants, stores, times when we weren't walking in large crowds, etc.) I just took my end off my wrist and tucked the strap in his pocket. Worked like a charm. Overall I was very happy with it, it was inexpensive, looked just the way I wanted it to (not like something a baby would have), and it definitely kept him with me and did its job!
