The outside of the dryer was much more hot than usual and it would not power back on. I went on youtube to see if I could find some videos on how to fix and sounded like the most likley issue would be the thermal fuse. However, it's important to know what is causing the fuse to trip. If the exhaust hose is plugged as it was in my case, you need to clear the hose or the fuse will just blow again due to not being able to expel the heat. Other things could be a bad cycling thermostat (which is included in this kit) or a bad heating element. It could be the high limit thermostat as well (included in this kit). I suggest getting a multimeter as it is actually very easy to test all the suspected components that could be the issue. I was able to use my multimeter to rule out the thermostats and the heating element, but the thermal fuse had no continuity. Some may say to just swap out all the parts in this kit but if they're working I would leave them. These are all so easy to get to on this particularly dryer I can swap any of them in under 10 minutes. Now I have spare parts should a thermostat go out. This time it was my Dad's old Kenmore dryer. All the parts fit perfectly, except for one fuse was different, but they replaced that fuse from the kit for free. Unfortunately, the dryer is dead, RIPieces. After connecting the motor directly to power source, it failed.
