Have artex on hallway ceiling which was there when we moved in (badly done). Applied the coating and within an hour it was being removed, coming off with very little effort with a good scraper. Eady to apply, great value for money and was delivered extremely fast Review: Works but you need a good scraper - Moved into an old house with artex on the kitchen walls that had been painted over. Tried to scrape it off without any product and it was extremely difficult and was damaging the plaster underneath so tried this product. Initially I tried leaving it on for an hour but that didn't work. Next I tried leaving it on for a day with clingfilm over it as instructed, then spraying it with water before scraping. I still didn't think it was working very well, but after switching to a different scraper, it ended up working quite well. Different parts come off easier or more difficult, probably depending on the specific material underneath, but this product makes it at least 10 times easier and quicker, and significantly reduces the damage to the plaster underneath. The product has a slight alcoholic smell, but it's only mild, and it doesn't seem to irritate skin. Other reviews mention mess, but I didn't find it too messy. The xtex and the effected artex will wipe off anything it gets on, it only becomes a problem if it gets trodden heavily into fabric, so be careful with carpets and you'll probably want to throw away the socks you wore while using, but otherwise it's an easy clean up. Some reviews mention needing lots, but a single light coat worked for me and iv got some left in the tub.
