The strips create friction on otherwise slick surfaces, i.e. tile, hardwood floors, etc. Should keep wheelchair wheels from slipping. **Q: Would this work well on a glass top bathroom scale to prevent slipping?** A: I'm not sure. Two possible issues: the product might not adhere to a glass top, at least not for a long time; if you should stand on it with wet feet, it might not completely prevent slipping. It has worked well on my stairway and has held up well as the contractors renovating our upstairs bath went up and down. **Q: can it be used on Porcelain tile?** A: The strips should work fine on porcelain. However, ensure the surface is smooth, as in sub-way tile. Would not recommend on rough surface prcelain made to simulate stone. They will peel up on rough surfaces. **Q: Will the tape/adhesive damage my wood floor?** A: my guess would be that it could. The tape sticks extremely well. She had fallen in her bathroom about 3 weeks ago and just got out of rehab. This tape was very easy to put down and was just enough to cover the area in front of her shower, sink and toilet. It is clear and you can hardly see it. I rounded the ends as suggested in the instructions so that it will stay down better. I made a wobble balance board and needed an inexpensive non-slip surface. I applied this to the stained wood surface. They were easy to measure, cut and install. (I did round the corners with a small round template that was included.) It doesn't come with any special installation tool, but I had a small 3" plastic squeegee that I used to press them down. You can see the strips, but they aren't too noticeable and the wood shows through.
