Apply petroleum jelly around hairline and on ears. 3. Wear plastic gloves to avoid staining hands. 4. Empty desired amount into plastic bowl. (Approximately 1/2 bottle for short hair, 3/4 bottle for longer hair.) 5. Apply evenly with tint brush, just enough to saturate hair. Do not apply to scalp. 6. Then, as I googled this product, I heard nice reviews that I gives a bright glow-y neon color on really light bleached hair. That's what I wanted exactly. So, I bleached some strips on my hair very lightly, they're pale blonde, and I just finished putting the dye over them. Right now, as I'm writing this review, I'm waiting for the dye to settle in. I actually think this dye has ONE problem, but It's not much of a big deal. The bottle won't squeeze that easily, but for people that use a bowl, can open it in a big way and pour it in a bowl. I used my fingers. My fingers aren't stained and this product smells good! Haha, smells like a shampoo to me. Overall, this product is amazing, even before I see my results, and they do not damage your hair like other permanent products. ^^ People that want to get this product, I highly recommend you to get it, I don't see why you are waiting for. :) You might want to bleach your hair to a pale yellow first, to get the best results, and to keep it longer lasting, and give it a nice bright-ish purple. I've dyed my hair a lot of times, with permanent colors and they really damaged my hair a lot. After using this product, my hair got a lot softer, and it doesn't make my hair worse. Also, I give thanks to The Garment District (The company who sells this product), because they were able to ship this product quickly. I love it a looottt! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ No problems here *by A***Y on Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2013* I haven't had any of the problems other reviewers had with Joyride. A few months ago, I went purple with MP's Ultraviolet and I absolutely hated the blue tones as it was rinsing out. My next dye I tried Ultraviolet Amplified with a little less than half Joyride, which rinsed out a little less blue but still wasn't what I was after. So, I let that fade all the way to that weird gray-silvery color and redyed with just Joyride this last time.Each time I dyed, I wrapped my head in cling wrap and ran my blow dryer on low with the diffuser for about 30 minutes every hour or so for as long as I could stand having my head all wrapped up in slime. Don't forget to rinse (& shower in general from now on) with COLD water, as cold as you can tolerate.So far, Joyride has been my favorite purple dye. After 4 washes, of course it has faded a lot compared to right after dyeing (such is the way of semi-permanent dyes) but it's a lovely pink-toned purple that suits my green eyes and pale skin.Don't be put off by the bad reviews if you're looking for "your" shade of purple, this is a great color even just for keeping in the cabinet to de-blue other dyes. ### ⭐⭐⭐ If you have dark hair do not waste your money unless you will bleach it *by A***Q on Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2011* I bought this for my son who has short dark brown hair and used 3/4 of a bottle and let it sit for half an hour and honestly can't tell the difference once it was rinsed out.
