No more then 6” off the ground and for best results 42” high or even high as 72” **Q: What is the best way to splice this wire? twist togehter or use a low voltage splicing product?** A: The best way is probably too tie it in a square knot and put a copper split bolt on it. Having said that, we did some with a split bolt and some just knots. And as my grandson can attest, it works well, even far from the charger. **Q: How visible is the wire? Looks pretty thin in pictures** A: It is thin and being white it’s not that visible. We use it to keep deer out of our crops. Sometime they run into it. I wouldn’t recommend it for horses because they wouldn’t see if. As a person we see it because we know to look for it. We’ve used this company’s product for the last 4 years and will continue to use it. **Q: what is the diameter?** A: Good question i would have to mic it. The Gallagher Turbo Wire is the best. It is very economical, has 9 strands of conductors, it holds tension very well. It is very visible to my livestock. It carries a charge very well. I use it for sheep which can be stubborn and are well insulated with heavy wool, so I use a very hot charger and this stuff delivers a great shock. It also springs back into shape when the deer hit it. The only problem is that you will burn through this fast if it shorts out and is arching against a t-post, but you can splice it back together easily enough.
