First of all, just make the rods slightly less than 1/2 so no one has to order a 33/64" bit. The rods are wayyyy too tight to be able to install into the shelf, (let alone mounting the shelf onto the wall, which most of us carpenters know are never flat)especially with the extra thickness on the powder coating. Second thing is that there are no counter-sinks on the bracket for the screw holes and you supply drywall screws that have a tapered head, so now unless the pocket they've made for the bracket is 3/16 plus an 1/8 in for the protruding screw head, they have to go out and buy a countersinking bit. Otherwise the brackets are fine, just poor thought into how most people would fair with this project. Hope you are able to make some improvements. ### ⭐⭐ Steer Clear *by T***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2019* These things suck. The manufacturer doesn't tell you that the powder coating adds to the half inch diameter of the rods. So you have to get a 17/32 drill bit. Oh and make sure you buy a drill with a large chuck that can hold it. Oh and the brackets themselves aren't straight on any axis (see photo). Because of all of this I had to take the brackets off the wall, straighten them the best i could, remount and drill more holes (holes didn't line up with original ones I drilled), ream out the holes in the back of the shelves because the rods don't all sit perfectly even (or at the same angles), and even after all of that, the shelves still don't sit flush to the wall (about a fingers distance from the wall on one side). Yes my walls are flat, I meticulously plastered and leveled them during my renovation. Now I've got ugly gaps behind my shelves. The manufacturer should give out drywall plaster and repair kits with these things so you don't have to buy them after you realize the brackets won't work and you screw up your wall.In addition, the brackets do not appear to support the manufacturer's claim of 100lbs per rod. Mine flex and creak against the drywall (which I'm assuming has softened due to me hammering and wiggling the shelf board back and forth to try and get it to sit flush). ### ⭐⭐ Rod doesnt fit in 1/2" hole unless you force it. These brackets have caused me significant frustration because the supposed 1/2" rod doesnt fit in a 1/2" hole. Why wouldnt you include information for the buyer to tell them both the distance the rods are apart (exactly), as well as the size hole YOU NEED TO DRILL??? Seems like the most basic info.After ruining the first two pieces of wood I sized for the shelves I started drilling trial holes in a piece of scrap wood. I used several different kinds of 1/2" bits, including a brad bit, and the bracket didnt fit in ANY OF THEM. If you force it in, it might go, but then you would never be able to take it off the wall without ripping the wall out. EIther update the description, include the details in the package, or send me a new bracket that actually fits in 1/2" holes.
