## Description

OUR STORY Nervana, with a vision to empower women, works closely with Fair Trade Organizations that produce eco-friendly handmade products by women artisans in Nepal. Our mission is to uplift the poor and disadvantaged women in Nepal by providing opportunities for them in developing independent and sustainable living. Every purchase improves the lives of makers by supporting their craft and providing a fair, stable income. ORIGIN OF PRAYER FLAGS Nepal Sutras, originally written on cloth banners, were transmitted to other regions of the world as prayer flags. HOW TO HANG PRAYER FLAGS? Prayer Flags are commonly hung on a diagonal line from high to low in high places that will carry the blessings depicted on the flags to all beings. 5 ELEMENT COLORS There are 5 different colors in a set representing the five elements and the five pure lights. Health and harmony are produced through the balance of the five elements: 1. Blue for Sky and Space 2. White for Air and Wind 3. Red for Fire 4. Green for Water 5. Yellow for Earth TIMING OF HANGING AND TAKING The best time to put up new prayer flags is in the morning on sunny, windy days. Old prayer flags are replaced with new ones annually on the Tibetan New Year.

Review: Here's How I Have Utilized My Tibetan Prayer Flags - I love these flags and have used them on MULTIPLE high altitude climbs. Prior to my climb internationally, I have sent out a letter/note to family, friends and colleagues such as this sample one: INSERT NAME: The beauty of high altitude climbing is not simply the journey and the peaks and the views; it is also a personal journey through so many cultures. Within the climbing community I have been personally introduced to so many varied cultural mores and beliefs through South America, Canada, Europe and Asia. And while I hold firmly steadfast to my Catholic faith and beliefs, I was drawn to the cultural beliefs and folklore surrounding Tibetan prayers flags – a mainstay along most mountain peaks, basecamps and monasteries throughout Europe and the Himalayas. A Tibetan prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along trails and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and to promote peace and wisdom. Traditionally, prayer flags come in sets of five: one in each of five colors. The five colors are arranged from left to right in a specific order: blue, white, red, green, and yellow. The five colors represent the five elements and the Five Pure Lights. Blue symbolizes the sky and space, white symbolizes the air and wind, red symbolizes fire, green symbolizes water, and yellow symbolizes earth. According to traditional Tibetan medicine, health and harmony are produced through the balance of the five elements. Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags DO NOT carry prayers to gods, which is a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras by those uttering them will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all. As the wind passes over the surface of the flags, which are sensitive to the slightest movement of the wind, the air is purified and sanctified by these mantras and prayers. The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as Life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside the old. This act symbolizes a welcoming of life's changes and an acknowledgment that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle. You will see massive streams of these prayer flags along Himilayan routes and especially leading to Mt. Everest. While I fully embrace my Catholic faith, I believe there is some merit to the symbolism and purpose of these prayer flags. That is why I have taken lengths of Tibetan prayer flags with me on all of my high altitude climbs, beginning with my 2008 climbs in Ecuador. Along with those lengths of prayer flags I have also brought a specific but different list of names of persons that I briefly pray for to our Almighty while allowing these flags to briefly billow on that particular mountain summit. Will they grant magical healing upon your loved one? No. But I do believe that the Almighty hears my prayer in earnest on that summit day and be close to your loved one throughout their journey. He will guide your loved one to where he/she needs to be and surround him/her with peace and strength. The prayer flags help remind me of the sacredness of that mountaintop experience and are to simply remind all of us that we are part of a greater ongoing cycle that will eventually witness the Kingdom of God and the glory of the Risen Christ. Peace, Lee
Review: Great - Really great. Have held up well even though it's been windy and rainy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are there translations of the mantras/prayers on the flags?**
A: There were not any translations in my
order

**Q: What kind of fabric are these made from? Are they all cotton or some synthetic?**
A: I assume they are made of synthetic nylon because they are supposed to fray in the wind.

**Q: Namaste ~ How long are these flags strung together?**
A: They are indeed, 10 inches high by 10 inches high for each flag. Since there are 25 flags, multiply 25 X 10 and that is the length. Frankly, if I had done the math before I had made this purchase, I would have either cut the string in half, or ordered a "shorter" length. It is REALLY long. I had to fold it over to fit on my porch.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great

Really great. Have held up well even though it's been windy and rainy.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blowin' in the Zen
*by C***L on September 15, 2024*

I hung these prayer flags, and suddenly my yard feels like a retreat center (minus the expensive yoga classes). The flags flutter like they’re whispering ancient wisdom, or maybe they’re just fluttering away my existential crises—who knows? Either way, they look awesome and have somehow convinced me I’m more enlightened every time I walk by. Plus, my neighbors now have more reason to wonder if I'm weirder than they originally thought. They also help the guy who mows my lawn avoid getting clotheslined by the low cable that holds up my sunshade, which was actually my initial reason for buying them. Now I'm addicted to them and have adapted an official "put a flag on it" for any parts of our house or landscaping I can fit one on. 10/10. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a little Zen or just wants to annoy their HOA.
