Unlike most of Terry's books, these three were stand alone stories, although the characters continued from one book to the next, the stories were each complete in their own book. I appreciated finishing the story in one book instead of three. The books should be read in order though, as events in the later books will spoil events in the earlier ones.This was a good finish to the three and I liked finding out how things were resolved with some of the main characters that we got to know. I did feel that some of the characters seemed to lose depth in this book, even with the understanding that there were multiple storylines with several central characters. Now, their on-going fight will be taken to a new level. In the city of Arishaig, representatives from the Druid order and the Federation have met to work out their differences and build goodwill. But the initial good feelings are shattered when a magical creature is set free and manages to kill off most of the Federation delegation. Paxon immediately suspects Arcannen is to blame, but now, he and the remaining Druids must get out of Arishaig before the survivors of the Federation catch them.Meanwhile, Paxon's sister Chrysallin, possessor of the old wishsong magic, has been abducted from Paranor. Leofur Rai, Arcannen's daughter, friend of Leofur, and life partner of Paxon, sets off in search of Chrys. She instills the help of Imric, a stable hand from Paranor who holds a mysterious secret that, over time, will engulf both him and Leofur in ways they can't imagine.Throughout the course of the story, each group will encounter their own set of trials and tribulations that include a dragon, man-eating plants, and the gradual awakening of feelings that were totally unsuspected, along with the loss of love."The Sorcerer's Daughter" is one of Terry Brooks' best works. The characters remain from the previous books in the "Defenders" series, and their struggles, both physical and emotional, are detailed from the very beginning of the story. Perhaps the character who experiences the biggest change is Leofur, for she goes through a complete change of perspective and feeling. As with all of the books by Terry Brooks, the story is fast-paced, loaded with action, and contains characters that the reader can relate to.
