I was really excited to use this box as part of a gift for my daughter's 1st birthday. When I opened the packing, I was so happy because the outside of the box was beautiful (a few odds markings/chips, but nothing too crazy) however, as soon as I opened the box, I was hit with the worst smell. I've had it airing out for almost a month (open outside, used all sorts of fresheners, even left dryer sheets inside) and it's still one of the worst smells I've smelled in a long time. It's no longer useful for it's intended purpose and the only thing I think I could use it for would be a planter if I rip out the fabric and put a liner in it. The inlaid mosaic is nice, and the pattern is intricate. It also seems pretty well built. The wood frame is solid, and the base is sturdy. Time will tell if the mosaic stays attached.#2, it smells funny. I think this is the glue used to hold the interior felt in place, which will have accumulated during shipping, so I am leaving it open to air out -- I am hoping the smell will dissipate after a little while (and more curing of the adhesive).
