Stable enough for our 55" flat panel TV, swivels smoothly and stays in place once set, and it exactly the right size for what we need. It came quicker than they said it would and arrived fully assembled and ready to use.I wish I could have saved a few bucks and let them keep the remote organizer - I have no need for it.I wish there was a hole or small hook or some other mechanism to use a zip tie to secure cables to the back of the stand, but I worked around that. A little awkward looking. I really didn't want to invest in a whole TV cabinet, so I got this. I LOVE IT. IT'S PERFECT. Do be sure you measure your DVD player or whatever you plan on putting in the opening. I did measure, but will say it was an "exact" fit - no wiggle room. Perfect as it turned out for me. I got the black which matches the TV and it looks very nice. YAY! It appears to be made from some type of composite wood product, but that's okay. It's sturdy, kind of a semi-matte finish and suits our needs just fine. I also want to add that I ordered the larger one and I'm glad I did.
