Typically, they should be over formulated when produced so they are still at or above the CFU/g (Colony Forming Units) number specified at the expiration date. After that, the CFU number will continue to drop off as less microbes become viable. But the remaining ones will still work, get into the soil and mulitply. 1x10^6 is a really low number to start with. A good fertilizer with a built in biostimulant / bacteria package will have numbers 2 to 10 times this amount. Depending on strains, many manufacturers will give a 3 year shelf life, but product will remain viable for years after that, just at a lower number. This strain is NOT as resiliant, so it has a much shorter shelf life. Put it in the ground and give it a product that promotes biological activity (seaweed extracts) and they will multiply if any are still viable. This is not the only nitrogen fixing microbe, there are others. **Q: How does one use this in combination with mykos? how is this applied? how is mykos applied? are there certain steps to follow?** A: I use it for giant pumpkins,both products are sprinkled into the planting hole.You can add one or both to your potting mix before using too.The myko sits dormant until roots come into contact with it.The Azos directions say to add it to water then apply it,either way works.Myko is a granular product similar to fine cat litter,if your plants are already established you would want Myko WP which is a wettable powder. I don't think this Myko works for Woody plants(trees) you would need to research that **Q: I left the bag out and my sprinklers soaked it and got the product inside soaking wet. It's since dried out. Can I still use it effectively?** A: There is a concern that the water activated growth of the bacterium and then drying out killed (some) of them. So it likely will not be as potent. I'd probably add extra to compensate **Q: Wiuld this cause my flowering/fruit plants to stop fruiting and instead grow lots of foliage?** A: Sorry flowering is controlled by the light dark cycle.
