This tubing is of a low expansion borosilicate composition with high chemical resistance, making it the most popular type of glass in the world for laboratory use. It meets all U.S. Pharmacopoeia specifications for type 1A glass. Borosilicate glass is simply the generic form of the better known heat resistant glass brands Pyrex, Corning, Simax, Kimax and others. In order to be bent, the tubing has to be heated until it glows a faint red color. Heating should be with a propane or natural gas burner similar to a plumbing torch or our propane Bunsen burner. What I did was made a mark where I wanted a cut, wrapped several layers of tape to the end, and very gently chucked it in a cordless hand drill. With the drill turning, I used a carbide tipped scribe and gently scribed a v-grove in the tube at the mark, or slightly beyond the mark so you get the length that you want. I then stopped the drill, removed the tube and gently applied pressure at the groove. It breaks very cleanly, but I still cleaned it up and removed the sharp edges with sandpaper. I can't say it's the ideal way to cut it, but it's worked very reliably for me. However you make your cut, use padded gloves and a face shield. So it can be 3.7 to 4.3mm in diameter. **Q: R these the bigger rounded ones or small** A: Can you clarify your question.
