For me and my computer screen, it looks pretty darn close to the picture. It is not a color I would call either dark or green. It's a medium shade, in a more neutral color. It has some green in it, but it's not as green as army or olive green. To me, it looks like beige had a baby with olive green. As for the bag itself, amazing first impressions! It feels really good--a nice quality. Zippers are good (weird how sometimes zippers are just awful, right?) Also it's softer than I expected. I was afraid it would be really rough and canvas-y, but it's really not. It's way better than I guessed, especially for that price.
