## Description

Perfect for a small live-performance mixer, as well as home-based recording setup, the 1204USB provides four mono channels with premium XENYX mic preamps, neo-classic 3-band British-style EQ and two stereo input channels. Far from being a “bare-bones” mixer, all mono channels feature our “one knob” studio-grade compressor and two Aux Sends (one each pre- and post-fader). Two stereo Aux Returns are included for use with external FX modules. The built-in USB audio interface provides bi-directional transfer of signals between the mixer and computer.

Review: Poor Reviewers Don't Know What They're Buying - I've been using my Behringer XENYX 802, without issue, for about 10 years for a DJ set up and just updated to the X1204-USB. Notice I said UPDATED not UPGRADED. Same quality as my 802 but 4 unbalanced and 2 balanced inputs. As well as aux send/rtns and all that. USB is great for recording live streams or events. Included DAW is free... so, I wouldn't expect it to change your life. Overall, and despite the excess amount of poor reviews, this is a GREAT PRODUCT, as far as affordable mixing goes. Sound quality is exactly what you SHOULD expect from a $179 mixer. This isn't studio quality but I've had no noise issues. Put simply, if you know what you're doing, this is good bang for your buck. BUT... if all you're doing with it is streaming, etc. and don't have experience with audio mixing you're going to either A) Need to take the time to learn how to use it properly OR B) Need to consider buying something simpler for your needs. Reading through a lot of the bad reviews, it's clear most reviewers could have benefited from some knowledge in gain structure and mixer routing (among other things). TRY YOUTUBE!! This is great for event production (weddings, corporate events etc.), Karaoke, SMALL bands, DJs (bars, nightclubs, etc.) ... so basically SMALL PA systems. If you're looking for a mixer for your home recording studio, or larger systems. I'd recommend you spend more and get a better mixer, as this one is more of an entry-level product. Finally, Behringer makes quality, affordable products. It's not top of the line, but people should really educate themselves before leaving bad reviews. It's not Behringers fault you don't know how to use their product. But, most assuredly, the majority of their customer base does.
Review: Updated Opinion - Initially I had a bad unit - it was buzzing and chirping and had issues inside, I had that fixed and have been using the unit for some time now. I have to admit - it is a good mixer. I got mine and went out and bought a much more expensive mixer when it had its problems, in the meantime I was upset and I left a negative review, then after a while I had the behringer replaced, when I did, I decided to compare it - sound to sound, apples to apples with a mixer that cost almost 3x as much, you know what? it sounded cleaner. It offers a good clean USB interface - it is not easily susceptible to usb interference The EQ works The one knob compressor works The effects are, well, okay? It's a solid tool for the money and a lot quieter than you might think. Well worth what I paid for it. Probably the best part of behringer is the company though, they replace units or repair them w/o hesitation, they are rock solid in this respect.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Im interested in buying this. We have 6 mics, and need to record the audio from all of them to a laptop during meetings. Will this do what I need?**
A: It depends on two things - 1: what kind of mics you have and 2: if you need all of the audio recorded into separate channels on the computer. If you have 6 mics that are XLR or need phantom power, then this will not suit your needs - this can only power 4 XLR mics. (If you have what are called dynamic mics with 1/4" plugs - or self powered condensor mics that can use 1/4" jacks - then you are fine). For the second part (about separate channels) it really depends what you want to be able to do. The USB part of this mixer records just two separate channels into the computer - the same as the left and right main output of the mixer. So if you were to use 6 mics you would have them all recorded, but all together. (Thus, if someone was too quiet, you could not just turn them up after the fact.) You can use the panning to get two completely separate tracks, but that's clearly not enough for what you're trying to do. If you want to record all 6 tracks independently you will need something more expensive. I hope this helps!

**Q: I am going to purchase three (Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone) mics. Will these plug into this mixer? Sorry I'm brand new at this.**
A: No, they won't plug into this in the way *I think* you want them to. There's a USB port on the back of this, but it's for interfacing with a computer, not for plugging USB microphones into it. Side note: I have an AT2020 USB, and I like it... but to use this mixing board with three AT2020s, you would need the XLR-type interface AT2020 mic, not the USB type. (Search for "AT2020 side address" on Amazon.)

**Q: Does it come wih effects? Is it good?**
A: Not sure what responders are talking about here. The X1204USB does indeed built in FX but the 1204USB model doesn't (and is $30 cheaper).. Just look at the top right of the board where it lists all the preset effects... reverb, chorus, delay, etc...

**Q: For USB recording, can I have four people (each using their own mic) sent to my computer at the same time? Using it for a podcast.**
A: USB is limited to 2 channels each way (total of 4 channels) and is not configurable beyond that. This, in your case, you could have two mics panned to the right and the other two to the left, or any combination thereof, but there's only ever going to be 2 distinct channels going from mixer to PC (or Mac) via USB.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Behringer RockS!
*by D***S on April 10, 2011*

This little mixer has the professional quality I require and I'm using this mixer combined with Cubase 6 software. I am happy to be using this to finish up my vocals on a progressive rock project to be mixed by the famed Terry Brown(RUSH). The Mice Pres have a wonderful warm and forward quality to them. The ease of use of the board is helping me complete a few singles that I am working on to include a Rap tune that will be spit by a member of the famed band Digital Underground, and another to be sung by the #1 Billboard charting Latin pop star Viva Angelina Sky. It was so easy to set up and begin working with. I exchange aif files with my clients and other musiles from around the world, that I work with, and everyone has mentioned they are loving the vocal sounds. I think it's the Mic Pres! The mix between studio applications and live possibilities are awesome, too. The portability gives one a lot of options. I received it in perfect timing for me to complete my session work that was in lockdown from my previous equipment breakdown. I ordered from the dealer, they shipped in in my desired timeframe, I had it hooked up and I was on a phone patch studio session on schedule! AWESOME! I recommend it. You can hear some of the new material on my website, [...] , as I begin to upload it, soon!!
