My main concern with even the 5 pound size was that the nuts would be fresh enough for me not to have to worry about the nuts arriving or going rancid. My husband and I eat several (not too many, just a couple) a day to get our selenium requirements. Did you know that Brazil nuts are said to increase your metabolism, raise testosterone levels, boost your sex drive and possibly help prevent cancer? Hey...count me in! I have been very pleased with the freshness as well as the taste not to mention how handy the size of the resealable bag is for me to store and handle. I fill a sandwich size baggie for snacking, zip the top of the main bag closed and pop it in the freezer until I need a refill. I don't know if freezing the Brazil nuts is necessary but I would at least refrigerate them or store them in a cool place. The current price with Prime delivery is about the same as what I was paying for them at the bulk food store and I don't have to haul that heavy bag home. I gave my UPS guy a bag as a late Christmas gift and he really appreciated it! The huge downside to the Amazon Brand is in the packaging. It has neither a resealable zipper closure nor any sort of carry handle like the Scoop Away package does. This makes it unwieldy to carry, pour from and store. If you have a 4 gallon bucket with a handle and lid you can transfer it into, then don't hesitate to buy this.
