First and most importantly was the author's portrayal of Mr. Darcy. I have wondered if the author and I had read the same P&P novel. I just couldn't wrap my head around Mr. Darcy being so pursuant of Emily, throwing rocks at her bedroom window, the picnic, and just his manor of speaking. I was quite disappointed in that because these were not my perception of actions and mannerism that I found to be in the character of the Mr. Darcy that I perceived as created by Jane Austen. And though I rather liked Emily, she offered little personality or feistiness that I felt would catch the affections of Mr. Darcy in the same way he was captivated by Lizzy; she just does not compare. Which brings me to my second gripe, the character Emily. I did like Emily, she was a likable personality and did show a little wit and sense of humor, but to be in her late 20's she was completely naive, a little bit immature, and oblivious to the parallel of what is going on during her trip in England and storyline of P&P until the end of the story. Third, the character Spike. I really liked Spike's personally; he was a bit of an ass, but actually had a kind heart. What I hated was that his name was Spike, I thought it was completely ridiculous and the fact he was so described as being so sloppy, it wasn't endearing sloppy, it was disgusting sloppy. I did, however, like old ladies that were on the tour, I found them be lovable characters.I liked the book overall, it was cute and an easy read, but it fell short; it could have been something fairly great ### ⭐⭐⭐ Irritating typos *by S***A on Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2009* This is a first for me. Normally don't review orders altho I do make it a habit to read reviews prior to buying. So, to be helpful to someone else, thought I write this. There is nothing wrong with the book or the story. I purchased the kindle edition and was very irritated with multiple typographical errors! I doubt this was an original book error, so I must believe the errors occurred during 'translation' to kindle. Errors like pifia colada for pina coloda, all "um" quotes are "urn" who says "Urn...?, everytime there is something italized it has a V stuck to it-- whatV. One or two is OK, but it is all over this book or rather this edition. This was not my first kindle book, so I know that it is not usual to see typos in the ebook. Anyway, if I knew there were multiple typos prior to buying I would have passed. Hope this helps you decide one way or the other. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun little romp through England *by K***F on Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2011* I bought this on a whim while skimming through ebook offerings at my public library site. Came here and got the sample and enjoyed it, so I downloaded the whole novel. I enjoyed it. It was great fun. There is just enough of a journey of self-discovery to make it "worthwhile". Her interactions with the senior citizens on her tour are fun and heartwarming. Older people are still people and shouldn't be underestimated....good for her for realizing it and embracing it. I like that she learned the lesson that Pride & Prejudice is supposed to teach...and in a different time and place. I read it for an escape and I received that escape.
