The rudder saved my skin when we were caught in an unexpected storm. I was able to keep my kayak upright and pointed into the waves despite the wind. I won’t go up there without a rudder again! Review: Nice complete package for replacement - Have an old chinook. Broke the pivot. This replaced all the lines foot controls hardware. The rudder is a plastic material. Foot rails are aluminum. Fasteners are stainless. It comes with turtle bungees to handle the rudder up and down lines awesome improvement from old. Instructions are extensive and cover multiple installations. Things to consider. My advice is to use whatever original equipment on your kayak if you do not have to replace. As example I wanted to change the foot pegs but the screws were frozen and I drilled them out the heat from friction melted plastic hull and I had to use a stainless fender washer to reattach the new foot pegs and rails. So be mindful of anything you really do not have to replace. Also plan time for this as it is a lot to do a complete replacement.
