They are just like folded boxes - you can fold and unfold as you want. However, they are much sturdier with tape along the seams. Also, the pre-glued seams fall apart very easily as well. **Q: Would these hold 12×12 scrapbook paper?** A: I don't believe they would be deep enough. Pretty much limited to 9 x 12 items (like a folder). **Q: What are these made of?** A: Heavy cardboard. I’ve used the same set in my classroom for two years now.
