For peace of mind we wanted to get something that could tell us if we lost power. With only two reviews and a $10 price we took a leap of faith based on the design. And we bought two because if it worked as we hoped we would keep one in the upstairs fridge/freezer too. We have not been disappointed. It works because it is so simple and we have been happy. We use ours in the freezer section and we do see some leakage from the coldest (blue) color but it doesn't all drain down so we believe we are good. We have checked with a freezer thermometer too and the temperature is accurate. Simple and effective like most good products and we can recommend it. A sturdy plastic enclosure that will take some abuse but wouldn't suggest dropping on a hard floor as it would likely crack. Now a permanent fixture in our freezers and glad we made the purchases. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Not Recommended for American Manufactured Freezers *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2015* I have had this product for 6 months. I needed a low-tech solution. This item let me down and while doing so removed $20 from my wallet. All colors melted except the red. So, I turned my freezer colder below the manufacture's recommended setting thinking it was too warm, same result. I returned my freezer to the manufacture's recommended setting for energy efficiency thinking I could simply rely on the red and if the red is melted, I know not to eat anything. After leaving it in my freezer for 2 months it now looks like an evaporated pink-ish color. It's not even red anymore. It's useless. I believe the item is made by an European company, maybe they keep their freezers below zero and this item works for them. I know it doesn't work well for American freezer settings, or a least not mine. I don't recommend this item at all. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Keep your cool *by G***C on Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2016* This is in theory a great tool for people who leave home on long vacations, etc. If liquid melts, it flow to the bottom and tell you the power went out, or the freezer is on the fritz, and how long it's safe to eat the food. I am not quite convinced it's 100% accurate, because it almost always has a little trickle of blue in the bottom.
