Review: A superb little unit - I purchased this to replace an enormous Denon receiver that was regularly freezing up and not responding to anything. When looking for a replacement to drive my two floor standing speakers I stumbled across Fosi Audio's range of mini amplifiers. This one accepted an optical input and came with a remote control so it looked ideal. Despite being so small and affordable I've been blown away with it over the past month. It has more than enough power to drive my 6ohm floorstanders with no audible distortion. To my ears the frequency response is good, with loud but not wooly bass, and clear treble. The device is easy to use (in stark contrast to my old receiver which required a PhD to operate), the remote is responsive, and the volume display is clear and readable across the room. It also lets you turn off the display at the click of a button which is good because it's quite bright! About the only negative thing I can say is that the active input source is very small on the display - but that's only an issue if you regularly change the input source, which I don't. I haven't used the Bluetooth much, but when I tested it I found the range was very good and the sound quality was perfectly good to my ears. Overall I would definitely recommend this. Bought this to power some big, old-but-good floorstanders and run audio through off a high-end sony smart TV. Was deciding between this and a £1k stereo hifi amp with DAC. The smaller mini-amps are too low power for my needs so went for this. Really good decision and saved me a packet. Plus the box is tiny. I've connected it to TV through the digital optical port so can watch TV plus run audio from phone through smart TV over wifi for easy music playback. The sound quality is great, very crisp, I can't hear any buzz at all. Volume is not crazy high on my system, but more than enough for 'normal' living room use. I tried the bluetooth but this doesn't sound quite as good, although still nice. That's more a bluetooth tech constraint though than anything to do with this device as the DAC is clearly very capable. Downsides are it won't sound as good with bluetooth and no inbuilt wifi streaming. Remote is pretty budget looking.
