The hammered finish also stops your chopped things from sticking to the side of your blade which I quite like . Choice of knife is a very personal thing I chose mine because of the shape of the blade and because of the high receded ricosso, making the entire blade sharp with no areas to ruin the corners of the wet stone whilst sharpening .
