It used to be called Sheath. One of its qualities that makes it a better choice over oils {Esp. for long term storage is it does not creep from your metal to your wood which can happen if too much oil is used. Sometimes less is better. The small pocket individual squares are very handy to put in your pocket for quick protection while hunting in case it is hot out and you get sweat from your hands or blood on the blued surface of your gun when so many companies are doing a bead blast finish on the metal.
