That was a mistake. The claim that it could propel a water balloon 400m is interesting. The record must have been set in a vacuum. I noted that it took a little bit of time to get the technique right. We were prepared....Basically, because of the design of the product, if you pull it back with any real intent the pouch folds over on release bursting the water balloon. We had two catapults running simultaneously and tried both with a range of water balloons filled to varying degrees. The only balloons that did not burst were when the balloon was filled to approximately golf ball size. We didn’t just use the balloons supplied with the purchase (which were of a decent quality) but also two different lots of balloons from other suppliers. Same result each time.Once some alterations had been made to the pouch using masking tape to prevent it folding over on release we began to have some success and were getting balloons to travel 50 - 60m. However, you don’t expect to have to jerry rig a solution during a kid’s birthday party. I’ll probably fix a better solution using something a bit more robust than masking tape so we can use the catapults going forward. But for now just disappointed.
