The temperature setting only goes to 300. So don't buy this if you want to distill high temperature items like sulfuric acid. One way or another I will get my money back. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent enough, but you can probably find better. *by A***Y on December 26, 2021* So this certainly did the job for me, but it is a bit lacking. I haven't yet tested this to the 450 rated temperature, but up to about 350c I have had no issues there. Please ignore an earlier review about it not working past 99c. He put 600ml of water into a 1l flask, set temp to 150c and then was upset when half an hour later when it could only reached 99c. Sorry, this heating mantle will not break the laws of physics. Those models are far more expensive.One legitimate issue I had was with the spin bar. Whatever sized bar I tried, it was extremely touchy about wanting to actually spin it at all. I had to push the flask in really hard, and it still didn't like it. So I took it apart and found that the mantle is basically shaped by a really loosely filled in foam inside of this thing. It actually left quite a noticeable gap from the bottom of the mantle to where the spinner is. So I reshaped the foam as best I could, put it back together, and now the spinner works fairly decently.There are two design aspects that I don't particularly like. First, the thermometer isn't quite long enough. It really needs to be about three or four cm longer. Second, while I like having the ability to set a specific temperature, I would have appreciated a function to set it at a specific wattage as well. Sometimes it would be better to know how much energy you are putting into a solution, rather than guessing with the temperature setting. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Price, Reasonable Machine *by A***R on March 15, 2019* This did what I needed it to do, hold relatively closely to a set temperature while heating and stirring a liquid in a round flask. A regular home outlet seems to be enough for the heating mantle to work well. That said, it is a little difficult to understand how to use it at first. For instance, it took a little time to realize that if the set light is on then the display temp is the target, but if the set light is off the machine is still set to the target it is just displaying the current temperature.One of the strangest things is that there is no off button as far as I can tell. You need to unplug the machine to turn it off.
