He actually ended up taking out the laces completely and they have been fine. They have held up pretty well so far. I definitely recommend for any kid that doesn’t mind their shoe laces being untied. Fair warning, the first day he said they did hurt his feet but we found out that it was due to the shoes being smashed in the package.
