Is it magnetic?** A: Tape. Your thumb. A large brick. A small child. Sorry for the sarcasm. Assuming you're an artist, get creative. I tape what I'm tracing to the back of my drawing paper. **Q: what are some of the uses of a ligfht box** A: Although I have had the light box for several years, I've used it more to trace garment pattern markings that need to be transferred onto fabric than I have for my art. One reason is that the 10 X 12 box is too small for most of my art needs. **Q: Can it be used to view old negatives?** A: A light box wouldn't project a positive image. Instead, I highly recommend the Wolverine Convertor for negatives, slides, and film. You can see a positive image in color, download a digitized version to a memory stick or computer, and further edit or photoshop it. If you don't have a computer, there are some limited editing controls (rotate, color), though they are cumbersome. Just take the memory stick to the photo store for printing.There are newer versions since I purchased mine (which is yellow). It's super light, I don't even realize it's in my bag.Paired up with a thin metal ACME peg bar (taped at the bottom) and I have myself a functional animation workstation. This is excellent, the light is bright, very light, I did not have anything so far what I use it for not work. You get what you pay for and this is well worth the money. Like I said if you want to pay nothing and what it to do miracles this is not it. But if you are using it for everyday activity or letting the kids use it, it is perfect.
