The little whistle and tinder lanyard is just another cool little feature. Product seems really well made. This lighter broke 2 times and was replaced at no charge. Regardless, it broke again. So this is it for me....do not waste your money on this item. **Q: In what country is thios manufactured?** A: hello, this Lighter is manufactured in China **Q: Can this be charged by a emergancy solar and crank radio meant to charge a phone?** A: This has a USB port near the arc igniter on the lighter, so if your crank radio connective capability to a USB cord, then yes it will charge. **Q: Can anyone tell me how the cord it comes with is supposed to attache?** A: On one end of the lanyard is a black plastic clip with a small wire loop attached to it, depress the clip and remove it from the lanyard - this black clip is the piece you will attach to the Tough Tesla lighter. Underneath the hinge that allows the lidon the lighter to swing open there is a small plastic handle, thread the wire loop from the plastic clip through this handle. Once the wire loop has gone through the handle, separate the two strands of wire to form a hole and pass the black plastic clip through the center of this hole. I keep this as a backup lighter in my pocket at all times. I'll actually go at least a month or two without recharging it and it always works. But i obviously don't use it often as it's just a backup. But very impressed with how long the charge lasts. I also like how it's Waterproof if I get caught in the rain. I also like the flashlight which comes in handy when i unlock the gate to take the garbage out.
