We tried a number of ways to get the car free but it wouldn’t budge. I was going to call a tow truck to pull us out but then decided to see if there was anything that might work instead (I’d rather pay for something I can reuse than a tow). I found these and the competing product with the rubber grips. The price for the rubber ones was less but I was concerned about durability and purchased these instead - I’m glad I did! These things are heavy and thick (definitely made to last!). They extend wider than the tire to grip along side the tire as well as underneath it. I have to admit the first time I secured this to the tire I didn’t ratchet it down enough and it slipped but I repositioned it and secured it tight for another try. That time it worked. They bit into the ground and popped the car right out of the icy tire depression. Was this cheaper than a tow? No, but it is definitely well worth it. These things are solid, heavy and will last a long time! It is important to remember to only go straight forward or back when using these on front tires as the extension will dig into your fender. ### ⭐ Do not recommend. Failed at first attempt to use. *by S***Y on January 1, 2024* Complete failure at first use. The strap is very weak and the metal that lays against the tire bent over the ratcheting mechanism. I attempted to contact them but have been ignored. I intend to use 1 or 2 on the rear wheels of an AWD (Volvo XC70) vehicle. Way better than being stuck on muddy desolate Montana roads waiting for a kind rancher or wrecker. Careful practice positioning of the lateral adjustment holes to clear rear suspension components and should give ferocious traction when needed. Installation on front wheels is also easy, but ANY significant turning from dead straight ahead will tear up the wheel well liners and fenders in a highly destructive manner.
