Throughout the book, he stays grounded in science and practice, even mentioning complimentary herbs. I particularly appreciate his writing style as he sticks strictly to the subject and does not make celestial or supernatural claims (i.e. plants having souls and such).My point/star deduction is primarily due to Fibroid issue in that its prominence on the back cover is not as clearly reflected in the book. I must admit that when I first started reading the book, I intended to give it 2 stars, because on the back cover it states:"vitex helps women cope with :-PMS-Menopause-Irregular cycles-Fibroid Cysts"Retrospectively, it seems that the items are listed as they appear (content heavy) in the book. So, for instance: If, when reading the back cover, and then flipping through this book, you'll (seemingly) find very little, if anything about Fibroids, as there is no clearly marked section addressing fibroids. I think that's important for readers to know. Furthermore, the book does not address sub-mucosal fibroids, so if that's your issue, this is NOT the book for you. In several ways, the author admits that the herb has a substantially positive impact on about 85% of its users.I would definitely buy this book again and the author's writing style, coupled with the many references he makes to clinical trials, articles and practitioners representing herbal, allopathic Chinese and ayurvedic medicines is greatly appreciated and quite impressive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic information about Vitex! *by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2007* This is a wonderful little book that can be read in one sitting and can be come back to time and time again. It will definitely go in my collection of health books. The information is neatly organized, approached in a very friendly manner and at the same time, written with the scientific background that I was looking for. The book begins by discussing the history of vitex, an herb that has been used for over 2,000 years to assist in restoring and balancing women's hormones and aiding with PMS, menopause, irregular menstrual cycles, fribroid cysts and even teenage acne! The book discusses prior and current research, explains thoroughly how vitex actually restores hormonal balance and describes the different ways to take it and at what recommended dosage. The appendix does an even more thorough job for those of us wishing to read up on research studies done in recent times in relation to vitex in treating various women's health conditions.
