Great Ending...Hard to write a spoiler free true review..but I tried

I'm not sure how to write this review to help others choose this book without feeling as if I am spoiling the book for others. The author never comes right out and gives us the name of the female lead in the blurb. I will not give a name, but I'm afraid that if you keep reading that you may figure it out. So if you don't want to know, stop reading now. This is the last book of this series. The male lead is Dylan. Dylan is the broody, silent one of the gang. He joined the Marines because quite honestly he just wasn't happy with his life. At first I felt the book was hard to follow as I didn't exactly know the next door neighbor and what was going on in their life. I do know that it was like she was going down a destructive path. Dylan is home from the Marines after an incident. This is where the story begins.I think we all know that who we are in high school may not be who we end up really being. We change, we grow, and we grow apart form our past as we mature. That is Dylan to me. The silent brooding Dylan that we saw in the other books is gone. This Dylan is profound when speaking. He finally feels like himself. I absolutely love Dylan. Then comes that bam moment when I just want to shake Dylan. He becomes that silent brooding boy again who is intent on destroying himself and his relationship. There is no information that I am going to give about the female lead, but I will say that I like the author's choice for Dylan. It is always wonderful to see the gang: Logan, Amanda, Cam, Lucy, Heidi, Kayla, and Jake (my fav). I love how they surround Dylan with love, advice, and fun. I love their mayhem, but I sure wouldn't want to be in their path. There are new characters that we meet along the way.I have to admit that I'm not sure if I wanted the book the follow the path that it did when I first began to read, but I will say that it totally worked. This relationship totally stole my heart. I understood their feelings. I understand why the author went down this path. There is such closure in this book, that I feel that most people will like how it turns out. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger. The only thing that I would change is to give Logan, Amanda, Kayla, and Jake a more solid ending. And that is just my opinion. Please don't try to read this book as a stand alone. You need to understand the backgrounds of these characters, and the only way to do that is to read the entire series. I actually reread the entire series before this book come out just to get a clearer picture in my mind.

    MORE Everything!

I finished this read at 1am and just reset the book and began to re-read all my highlighted passages for another hour. This took a while as I think I must have highlighted over ½ of the book. I was so completely drained emotionally and yet, I could not sleep. As cliché as it may seem, I don’t know if 10 stars would be “more than enough” to adequately convey my adoration for this author and this story. It is not secret that I am a fan of the More Series. I am a Jaybird and proud to stalk the hell out of McLean! That being said, I am a fan because I believe in her writing. I get her stories. I feel her passion, her humor, and her perfectly imperfect characters. I love to laugh and cry right along with the fictional characters she brought into my life.More Than Enough, book 5 in the More Series, is IMO, her best in series. Perhaps it was because Dylan Banks was so intriguing to me, or the fact that he was “a man of little words.” I knew when it was time for his story to be told it would be no less than epic. I am so happy that I was in no way let down…I have been BANKSED and feel better for having had it happen!I won’t recap the story and ruin the experience for those who take the MORE journey. TEAM SILENCE all the way! The heroine…the whys…the love story…everything is realized right along with the reader and it is beyond breath-taking. I won’t fill this review with images as McLean’s work is beautiful enough without my attempt to “image it.” I also have no way of tying in quotes, because where would I possibly start? The whole book is chalk full of lyrical prose and profound concepts that I wonder where this angst genius stems from. So, Kudos to Jay McLean and her beyond fabulous stories. Thank you for all the Operation Mayhem moments. Thank you for the sweet first loves and the bumps in the road to forevers. Thank you for the age appropriate intimacy and the progressive scorching heat. Thank you for the bond of friendship that is more…that is family. Thank you for recognizing grief, no matter why the source, and for keeping it ugly. Most importantly, thank you for showing light in the most dark of times. More Than Enough can be read as angst filled romance, but if just one person can find help with what Jay McLean delivered then I too am thankful for that!

More than enough in some ways - not enough in others

*by A***W on Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2015*

Let me preface my review of the closure to this series by stating that I was never a big fan of Heidi and Dylan as a couple. So, the fact that “the chosen one” was presented as secretive made no matter to me whether it was Heidi or another. I was happy with the prospect that a new character that might give Heidi a run for her money. And before someone screams “triangle,” let’s put that rumor to rest. No triangle to worry about – no cheating either. The endgame on this question made no difference in my rating here.My biggest problem with Dylan’s story is that it felt a bit overburdened by an unrealistic amount of drama and angst. This particular installment definitely carries a more serious tone from start to finish. For me, the real theme lost some of its effect inside all the loops and tangles. And there were a few times I questioned the actions of a few significant characters and how they reacted to certain behaviors. It was a mindboggling to me as a parent.Nonetheless, overall I've really enjoyed reading this NA series. The characters have all been entertaining in their own individual ways -- a wide variety of personalities. Once again we get appearances by all the beloved gang of friends that pops in throughout lending helping hands – and, of course, reigning mayhem supreme.I think Jay McLean has a special gift in developing characters that stick with a reader long after their story has been told. Their personalities are witty, colorful and captivating. It’s a bid sad saying good-bye to this series. Hopefully, the author will give readers an update via a novella or short story to provide a stronger and more solid closure for some of our couples.
