## Description

Work in general use dense system as a practical system for writing, drawing art system, a design, such as miniature painting and drawing, the pencil craft, handicrafts and other, you get a consistently high rating. The core, and a rich smooth to hard, on line is beautiful, writing taste is also excellent.

Review: The BEST by far! - Compared the following pencils for daily writing, art and Asian Calligraphy (Kanji/Characters): - Staedtler Mars Lumograph 3B ($15) - Pepy Graphite Professional 3B ($10) - (936) Uni Wooden Pencil, 3B ($17) Uni is, by far, the clear winner. Absolute perfection! Writes smoothly, feels very, very smooth, consistent, more pressure sensitive since the first touch, feels softer, and erases much better. The paint coating is perfectly smooth. Comes with a high quality box you can keep pencils in, preventing them from marking up purses and backpacks, or other objects during transport. Pure pleasure! Ecstasy of a pencil! No effective difference between Pepy and Staedler in use (most won't feel any). Harder to erase, digging into paper, due to increased pressure requirements to get the 3B shades at since the first tip touchdown to paper. Better for writing, homework, underlining, drafting, etc. Had to use more pressure to go from super light to a a few shades darker. Staedler's blue paint coating looks much cheaper, thin, rough looking, the pencil wood not polished, like they saved on production. Staedler's wood is also cheaper. Pepy's coating is smooth and looks good, nit as good as Uni. Pepy's and Staedler's bodies feels thinner, and may be better for smaller hands. Uni feel juicier and thicker in the hand. Pepy has the least smell of wood/paint coating, and may be better if you are sensitive to smells. For best experience overall for artists and caligraphers, Uni is a clear winner by a long mile. Between Pepy and Staedler, Pepy is better and more affordable. I'll use Uni for most of my work, Pepy for daily menial work, and I won't be going back to Staedler, just keeping a few for when I simply feel like using a blue pencil. But if you like the smell of pencils, Uni is certainly the best. For writing a lot plus art, I'd go with Uni for sure. Less pressure to get the 3B shade for me is more control, more ergonomic with extended use. If you write Kanji, I'd go exclusively with Uni because your strokes will certainly rely on the pencil feel. And the strokes fall nice, as natural of a feel as possible for Kanji. Relative to fountain pens, comparing Uni pencils to the runner ups is akin to comparing a gold nib $150+ dollar pen to $25 -50 pen you can find at a regular office store. Uni is premium. Both Uni and Pepy make Staedler feel cheap when compared side-by-side.
Review: Review From a Writer, Not an Artist - I recently got into the world of pencils after being a pen-only writer for years. I like dark, bold lines (for pens, I use Pilot G2 1.0mm) and I bought this pencil in 10B because it was the darkest lead I could find for a decent price—after tax, this set was $1.71 per pencil). To compare the more well known pencils, I also purchased Palomino BlackWing pencils—a 12 set is $2.08 per pencil; Mitsubishi 9850 HB pencils—a set of 12 is $0.68 per pencil; and a rOtring 600 mechanical pencil 0.7 for $26.40. This set is BY FAR my favorite! The case it comes in is overly impressive case to simply house a set of pencils. The little black divider that keeps the pencils in place isn't connected to the housing, this did get on my nerves because the divider would come out whenever I removed a pencil so I cut some strips of tape and connected the divider to the housing and now it's perfect. This pencils do smudge a little when writing so it may not be the best option for left-handed writers (I'd recommend Mitsubishi 9850 HB for lefties). The lead is super soft so don't expect the tip to stay sharp; for me, the tip is already dulled when I start my second letter. This doesn't bother me because I prefer bold, thick lines. I bought a set of cheap white (not pink perils) erasers at Walmart and the lines erase very well. Is the set worth the price? With the insanely good carrying case that you can repurpose long after you use up the pencils, yes. The pencils are nice and dark and the best alternative to a Pilot G2 pen. My coworkers make fun of me because now, when I pick up a standard #2 pencil, I cringe and start looking around for my good pencil! The difference in quality is a lot more drastic than I would have ever guessed.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is this charcoal or...?**
A: Nope. This is the bestest graphite ever made. Most soft and dark.

**Q: Is this a box of 12 individual 10B pencils?**
A: The box of 12 that I received was labeled 10B, but the box contained HB - far different than 10B. When I asked for an exchange their answer was NO refund or exchange allowed.

**Q: Do the 10B pencils break easily when sharpening? What sharpener do you use? Has anyone used an electric sharpener with these?**
A: They do not break easily. The sharpener I use is :https://www.amazon.com/MUJI-Small-White-pencil-sharpener/dp/B00E3MIDDC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469049989&sr=8-1&keywords=muji+pencil+sharpener

**Q: What is the inner diameter of the pencil (i.e., the diameter of the graphite)? I would guess 2mm since it is not specified as non-standard.**
A: The diameter depends on the hardness/softness of the pencil. The harder the pencils the smaller diameters. I measured one of my 10B's and think it is about 3mm.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good pencils at a good price
*by J***E on October 16, 2025*

The 10B pencils I bought write very smoothly and get very dark, they cost a bit but with the high quality the price is low in comparison.
