## Description

An unusual, hard-to-find strawberry. Plants are vigorous and send out numerous runners. Berries are white, ornately speckled with red seeds, and are a bit bigger than other pineberry varieties. Aroma is outstanding and the pineapple flavor is pleasant and mild. Protect from direct hot sun to keep fruits from developing more pinkish hues.

Review: Will update this once/if they produce berries. - Let me start this off by prefacing that I didn't get to them until one day after they were delivered into my mailbox. The mailman also bent my package in half in his way of stuffing my mailbox, which broke off a couple of baby shoots coming from a couple runners. With that out of the way, out of the plants I salvaged a day late, 7/10 are now growing and look healthy & great. 2/10 of the plants look dead. 1/10 was rotten and is for sure dead. I simply mixed soil conditioner into an old 7 gal pot with soil I had lying around, and put them all in the deeply watered. They're probably not far enough spaced from one another, but because I lost some, it's probably okay for now. They won't get crowded for a little while. I stuck mine under a 72watt LED grow light I also got off desertcart. Look for the VOGEK full spectrum if interested. Within a couple days they have already taken off in growth. Make sure if you do indoors that you have a small fan for circulation, and when putting a saucer under a plant, you make sure that they are never sitting in standing water. That will cause root rot and your white berries will die. One of the biggest ways to kill a plant is noticing that it looks unhappy, so you water it more, but you didn't realize it was unhappy because the roots were rotting from being watered too much already. Let your plants dry out first! Not totally dry out, but your finger shouldn't be touching wet soil if you stick it in the dirt. I would not recommend putting these outside until they get bigger, because I've grown regular strawberries before, and TONS of critters and birds love to snack on them. Some of the other reviewers for this product stated that their outdoor strawberries were eaten. Baby plants are also delicious to a lot of animals, so I highly recommend keeping them indoors until they get bigger. There's also elements you can't control outside such as if the sun is shining too harshly on them for too long, or if they dry out quick, or if it gets too windy, or rains too much. I actually may just keep mine indoors indefinitely so I don't even deal with pests.
Review: So far, 90% dead, last one struggling - A friend and I split the 10 pack of pineberries in half. We both planted them indoors in planters but they were at our respective houses so each half had different growing conditions. One of the roots looked like it had been split in half giving us a total of 11 plants because we planted both. Of the 11 plants, 3 were just dead and never sprouted, 2 sprouted a little and died within a day or two, 5 grew leaves that withered and died, and the final plant is struggling with barely any leaves because the first set died but it put out some new ones that are tiny. We planted them a month ago. We followed the included instructions (with the exception of testing the PH of the soil because we were using fresh potting soil) and have still had such a horrible crop. Can't comment on the flavor because I don't think dead roots would taste very good and haven't gotten nearly enough plant to grow fruit.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how long can they stay in that they come in?**
A: They should be planted as soon as they arrive. I made the mistake of waiting a few days to plant mine. I kept the roots wet by spraying them with water and it altered the ideal moisture content, some roots became rotten. The ones that survived took well! They’re extremely hearty and came back easily this spring. Can’t wait to see the fruit!

**Q: How long does the plant live if planted in a indoor hydroelectric system**
A: All mine died after planting in a garden.

**Q: Can you plant these next to regular strawberries?**
A: Yes you can, They will cross pollinate, but this is ok. It will not affect the current fruit, or plant. Do keep in mind that If you are going to harvest the seeds, you may have a crossed strawberry(a new type)plant and fruit, this can actually be fun. Do keep in mind with strawberries when you are planting, the rule in distance for the plant is 1 square foot. Also just a tip, where people make mistakes when planting strawberries, you have to mix sand with the potting soil, or the roots will rot. I take regular potting soil, 3 parts potting soil, 1 part sand. strawberries need a soil that will drain. I hope this helps you. I have all my strawberries planted together. 4 different types. So you know a pine berry is a strawberry. If you find a good supplier for Pineberries let me know. I would like to get some. I have bought pine berries twice. Once on amazon here, the bare roots were dead on arrival.

**Q: Do they come with pollinator plants?**
A: I don't know but when they were went to me there were only 3 that made the trip to me. I planted them and they took off, Spreading climbers until I had 8 trays full but never a strawberry. NADA! I had lots of flowers but no evidence of a single setting. Good luck!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The real deal!
*by C***D on June 13, 2021*

Flavor it's exactly like pineapple! Its uncanny! All of the roots came alive and grew into happy healthy little buggers! Great value! Just a couple things that I have learned about these plants: I very foolishly planted these in my strawberry bed with my "all star" and june strawberries. It took me a year to be able to reliability tell them apart. The pineberries themselves are much more short and squat than the normal ones, they also grow in very tight bunches, see my 1st 2 photos. The 3rd photo is one of my all star plants. They are June bearing, not massive producers, but enough to be a treat! They are very hardy! I am in the upper midwest and we have nasty winters. This is ther 3rd year they have happily come back. Wait to pick them until they have a pink hue, they are much sweeter this way. With any berries during their 1st year trim the flowers so that the plants can put down good strong roots. It will be worth the wait!
