One thing to note is they are a little short, work fine for my boat but probably wouldn’t work for a larger row boat. So.. amazon offered these as an 'add on' item. I absolutely think they are worth the add-on price of $5 or $4.70 whatever I paid for them. Are they plastic? Yes. Will they hold up on a lake? Most likely... Would you want these to navigate rapids? Um no. The negative reviews are always interesting to read and I wonder what expectations are had for this kind of product. They got the job done, they are long enough and sturdy enough to be effective on a lake with 4 grown adults and 3 children on a raft.
