## Description

The word attiéké is a deformation of the word 'adjèkè' of the brie language spoken in southern Côte d'Ivoire. Originally (and sometimes even today), bribery women do not make the same attiéké they sell with the one that is consumed by their own household. As a result, they described the product sold for sale as adjèkè in order to make the difference with the product consumed at home (Ahi). It was then the bamboo carriers who propagated the word 'atchèkè'. French settlers (certainly for writing aesthetics) wrote 'attiéké'; but in the streets we often pronounce 'chech(i)éké', with amuïssement of the initial A. Culinary specialty of certain lagoon peoples (Ebrié, Adjoukrou, Alladian, Abidji, Avikam, Attié, Ahizi) from the South of Côte d'Ivoire, the Atheké is traditionally produced by women, formed teams in the village grouping for production. Its consumption is so strong that factories have been built to make it. Thus, in 1979, the Ivorian Society of Tropical Technology (I2T) was established under the leadership of Mr. Diarra A. Oumar, to facilitate the task of producers of the Attiké sector, but above all to modernize production, produce quality attiéké and maximize profits. The attiéké not only knows the success in Côte d'Ivoire but is also exported in dehydrated form to European countries, and in the form of balls (its usual local presentation) to other African countries in the Western subregion. Over time there have been several variants of attiéka: the abgodjama is an attiéké whose grains differ from others to their sizes. The grains are large and this attiéké is usually made to be consumed by the lagoon peoples themselves is made from a variety of high quality manioc.

## Features

- The attiéké has a very slightly acidic taste and a frank smell. Less refined palates feel no difference with wheat couscous Yet, its lighter colour, its more elastic and sticky texture, its slightly translucent appearance make them stand out. Its fragrance is typical. In addition, the greatest difference lies in the fact that the attiéké is fermented while the couscous is a product derived from the direct grinding of wheat.
