Review: Near Gillette quality at a Bic Price - Since I decided to stop overpaying for Gillette refill cartridges, i've been on a quest to find a good and cheap razor. This is my latest razor, and this is how it compares with other budget shavers. It is far superior the Bic Comfort 3 and the Barbersol. I really liked the Bic Comfort 3. 12 cartridges would last me a year, then suddenly the razor blades only lasted a week and not a month. Next I tried the Barbersol 3 bladed razor disposable. This gave a decent shave, but was so lightweight that you razor wasn't doing the work for you. Next I used Harry's and the angle needed to shave and to use the single blade edging tool didn't feel right. Then I found the Bulldog bamboo razor. In terms of the shave it gives, and blades last a 2 weeks. I would rate this at least as good if not better than the Gillette Fusion 5. It outperforms the Solimo. But at $2.50 a refill, it does not outperform the Solimo at 150%. ' While I'm only on my second shave for the Solimo 5-bladed razor, the first two shaves were very good. Like the Bulldog it's a close enough shave to allow me to skip a day between shaving. While I would rate the Bulldog as a slightly more aggressive razor, I couldn't skip more than 2 days with it. So it is a matter of degrees basically. I wish the razor had a bit more heft to it. The swivel head, I find to be more or less a gimmick and while the Bulldog does offer some swivel movement, I don't think that translates into a better shave. Solimo is the house brand for Amazon, They are then manufactured by Personna. Personna is owned by Edgewell who own Shick, Personna is their private label group. They have plants based all over the world so it is hard to nail down where one is manufactured. They do however have 3 plants in the USA. **Q: How do these compare to schick 5** A: I have used the Schick 5 as well, but i like these better. I am 10 shaves in and still on the first blade, no tugging or pulling. The edger for side burns has come in very handy as well. Either way I'll update this reivew in a month ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mullet of razor blades - good up front...needs work in the back *by D***D on December 1, 2025* The front facing razor is great - provides a good clean shave. The head moves and adjusts well. It's well made. I've tried Gillette, Schick, DSC, Harry's and Jeremy's and this is at least on par with them all and better than some (Schick and Jeremy's are my other favorites). Therefore, at its price point, it would be a clear leader. Exceeeeeepppppttt....The rear-facing trimmer blade stinks! Either the angle of the blade or the amount of protrusion from the casing are such that it constantly cuts/nicks such that it renders it unusable. I have to keep a separate trimmer blade of another brand to pair with this one. I don't think it would require much study of competitor's trimmer blade to re-design the angle/positioning and make this entre blade great.
