Just make sure you know what you're buying! *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2019* I wanted a fast standard prime because it's a useful lens to have. But it's not a lens type I use much - only for particular situations, and not the kinds that involve moving subjects and autofocus. I took a risk and bought this guy instead of the Fuji 35mm F/2 WR lens to save money and to get that fast aperture.This is a manual focus lens. It takes more time and thought to use. Fuji's focus tools make it not too hard, but it's still slower than autofocus by orders of magnitude, so this isn't a lens to use with fast moving subjects like pets or kids. Be aware of that.If you're okay with the compromises of manual focus, I think you'll really like this lens!First, build quality is much better than I expected. An equivalent lens from Canon or Nikon will be super plastic. This is solid, firm metal. I was very pleased. The size is extraordinarily small and portable. My wife thinks it's "cute". It is. One thing to note is that the aperture is mechanical (not focus by wire) and stepless, making this lens feel exactly like an old film lens (because that's essentially what it is). It doesn't click into standard aperture steps, it's just one smooth pull to open and close. I both love and dislike that, since it feels a little "imprecise", but the pure mechanical aspect if really fun. Also, your photos won't come with metadata, and you'll need to dig into settings to allow the camera to shoot without a lens since there's no electronic communication between the lens and camera.See my pictures for image quality reference (note that they were shot on an X-T30 in RAW, wide open. First, notice the surprisingly fantastic bokeh and out of focus areas. It's better than a lenses I've owned that are 10x more expensive than this one. No "onion rings" and nice round out of focus lights. Perfect for a wide aperture prime. Of course, shooting in manual focus at wide apertures isn't easy. I would call this lens "sharp enough" (note my reference bottle picture for a wide open sample of fine text). It's not noticeably softer than other wide open prime lenses.I was honestly surprised by this lens. If you're comfortable with manual focus and don't need to shoot fast moving subjects at wide apertures, I think you'll enjoy saving a lot of money while retaining great image quality!
