What's the function? Is it supposed to be removed?** A: Yes you can remove it to measure how low you want to cut your drain pipe. Depending on the complexity of the project you can leave it on as well. I have done both ways and it works fine on different occasions **Q: Are these pans already water proof, and i only have to seal the sides to the kirdi board with kirdi band?** A: Yes **Q: Can the tray be cut to install a corner seat?** A: Absolutely. Long razor knife does the trick **Q: Do I need a pan or does act like it?** A: This is your pan.
