The black part is fairly hard to scratch off and the silver part with the state names is super hard to scratch off. There's no way to scratch off a state without leaving a ton of dents all over it. I'm pretty disappointed because I really liked the design of the map and I bought it to be a gift. ### ⭐⭐⭐ sorta dissapointed *by M***Z on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2019* I bought this for my sons room and I loved the colors underneath it online. HOWEVER once I started scratching the states off it took forever and it was super hard to do. The black is easy to scratch off but the grey letters are super difficult. I finally figured out that if you just hold the pick a certain way and scrape hard/long strokes then it will come off easier.
