The hat is light weight and the mesh allows the breeze to come through. I can't attest to the SPF rating but I can tell you that I have not been sun-burned on my head or face while wearing it so that says something. I have used the back flap and it works well, just took some getting used to. Haven't tried the face flap, no real need yet. I know it snaps on and fits though. The chin strap works well, hat has not blown off. I use it primarily for mowing (riding and pushing) but have also used it on leisurely bike rides around the neighborhood and it has stayed on. The only gripe, and it is purely superficial, is that the opening for your head is not exactly on the same axis at the brim. The hole is slightly rotated a few degrees off from the brim. The only thing to be aware of is that the whole thing is made of soft materials and if not careful the hat will bend or wear quickly.
