These Cambro containers and lids are the best of the best. They are like Tupperware on steroids. But this time around, I purchased them for my small Apt. I chose the real Cambro and not the competition. Though I must say every one of the competition containers do a fine job they really do. But most people that know better, will always choose Cambro brand. Cambro's smaller size containers do not have handles which I do not want; for it takes up more room inside my small Apt. size compact refrigerator though I personally prefer if they had handles if I had a larger refrigerator or an area to store them in. But the 2qt. and the 4qt. do not. The 6qt. and up do. In the restaurant business, often times you may have several size containers from different manufacturers and not all the lids fit with one other which is understandable for they want you to purchased their own brand. But I will admit, they all do a fine job. I personally like the clear containers and not the frosted ones. They are much thicker and much more durable. I also like the fact that I may see what's inside at a glance instead of keeping the refrigerator door open for longer periods of time. I will admit that my co-workers, and I, and especially the dishwashers at work like working with the other brands only because they have the built-in handles on all sizes which makes it much easier for grabbing them with one hand instead of using both hands to get only one when they're stacked one on top of one another while being upside down on the shelf. There was one brand years ago that we liked because their lids were very easy to remove especially when you were extremely busy at work constantly opening and closing the lids etc. The lids were very dark green for the 2qt.and 4qt. size containers and red for the 6qt. Containers. And dark blue for the larger containers. But unlike Cambro's lids, they were more flat and squared off rather than having rounded corners and rounded lips around the top of the lid(s) which made it a breeze for removing them. I could understand your frustration if the lid is hard to open. Cambro's larger containers have built-in handles which is what you want especially if you're going to lift heavy whatever will be inside. But for home where it's not busy like a restaurant, I would always choose Cambro with or without the handles and the clear ones which are much better, thicker, and durable than the frosted ones.
